Farm Things & Local Things to Do

There is so much to see and do both on the farm and in the immediate neighborhood and larger Tampa Bay community. This description will focus on the farm and more immediate area with some suggestions on things to do to experience and explore.

First of the farm. You are staying on the only active working farm in the City of Tampa with livestock galore. The farm is open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 10am to 5:30pm. Outdoorsy guests are given the pass to visit the farm animals seven days a week from 10am to 6pm. The animal life is constantly changing as part of the nature of a farm but there are some animals that have been part of the farm for many years and their personalities are so original and worth seeking them out. The farm has a brochure by the main gate with a self-guided tour of the recently updated farm which includes finding many of their most lovable animals including Hamilton the pig, Tiberius one of the three ‘billy’ goats and so many more. Usually, Amelia the chicken is hanging out right by the Amelia Airstream (her namesake) and she and her friends may keep you company. There are horses, and cows and bunnies and ducks and many other live stock. The farm now has a raised bed garden and a farm market with all kinds of produce and healthy eating and drinking including Kefir, raw cows milk, cheeses, yogurts, chicken meat and steaks sometimes too which are great on the grill. Payment is the honor system and they do take Venmo too. Firewood is available for your site if you run out or Interbay Grocery store usually has some too. Go here or visit www.southtampafarm.com for more.

For many, you don’t even have to leave the farm to get all of your adventures and unique experiences but maybe you’d prefer to go out exploring. Totally get that!
